Globalization

Globalization refers to increasing globalconnectivity, integration and interdependence in the economic, social,technological, cultural, political, and ecological spheres. Globalization is anumbrella term and is perhaps best understood as a unitary process inclusive ofmany sub-processes (such as enhanced economic interdependence, increasedcultural influence, rapid advances of information technology, and novelgovernance and geopolitical challenges) that are increasingly binding people andthe biosphere more tightly into one global systemThere are several definitions and all usually mentionthe increasing connectivity of economies and ways of life across the world. TheEncyclopedia Britannica says that globalization is the "process by which theexperience of everyday life ... is becoming standardized around the world."While some scholars and observers of globalization stress convergence ofpatterns of production and consumption and a resulting homogenization ofculture, others stress that globalization has the potential to take many diverseforms.
